On Friday, August 27, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will be holding an event that celebrates the benefits of community gardens. This workshop will teach you how to start a community garden. Like all their events, this is free and open to the public. You can learn more about the USDA’s People’s Garden and Healthy Garden Series in this blog post I wrote back in May.

Darn, I wish I wasn’t just finding this now. I am on the Board of Trustees of our Botanical Gardens and we are going to do a community gardens initiative. I’m dying to learn about best practices and where the best examples are.
Hi Tammy. I am sure that if you contact the folks at the USDA they would be happy to talk to you about creating a community garden. You can visit their website for contact information. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, please leave me a note and I’ll get a contact for you. Best of luck!
